Taryn is a proud born and raised Calgarian who discovered her love of movement at a young age when she took her first ballet class. She went on to train as a classical ballet dancer at Canada’s National Ballet School and Alberta Ballet School where she was first introduced to the Fitness Table Method. After performing professionally with Alberta Ballet company, Taryn began pursuing a career in teaching. Her experience working through injuries as a dancer led her to train in the FItness Table Method under the guidance of Patricia Maybury.
Taryn’s passion for teaching has led her to helping dancers and movement enthusiasts achieve their goals for over 15 years. Taryn joined the Professional Division faculty of Alberta Ballet School in 2011 and was soon promoted to Head of Junior School and later also took on the role of Director of Community Programming. Taryn’s keen eye for anatomical detail and attention to artistic quality have earned the respect and love of her peers and students. Taryn believes in the powerful benefits of movement not only for children and youth but for adults as well. She brings her gifts for teaching to all those who are looking to improve their posture, mobility, and health and build the strength they need to lead active lives.
Taryn loves spending time in the mountains or exploring the many pathways and parks Calgary has to offer with her 2 energetic children and spunky rescue dog Chica. She is excited to be back at “the Table”!
